Ana Gonçalves Matos is Assistant Professor at the Department of Modern Languages, Cultures and Literatures of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Nova University Lisbon and Researcher at CETAPS (Centre for English, Translation and Anglo-Portuguese Studies), where she integrates the TEALS (Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies) research group. She is the Coordinator of two Masters in Teaching English (and a Foreign Language) in the 3rd Cycle of Basic Education and in Secondary Education. She is a member of the editorial boards of the e-journals: E-Teals – An e-journal of Teacher Education and Applied Language Studies and CLELE (Children's Literature in English Language Education); and of International Education Studies (http://ccsenet.org/journal/index.php/ies/about/editorialTeam).
She has reviewed for several international journals, such as Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching (Routledge); Language and Intercultural Communication (Routledge), and Arts and Humanities in Higher Education (Sage).
She has been a member of the organising committee of several international conferences.
She is a member of IALIC (International Association for Languages and Intercultural Communication); ICC Global (Global Network on Intercultural Competence); CULTNET, and a member of the executive committee of APEAA (Portuguese Association for Anglo-American Studies), 2016-2018.
She participates in the NECE (Networking European Citizenship Education) Focus Group “Hard-to-reach-leaners” (http://www.bpb.de/veranstaltungen/netzwerke/nece/155654/hard-to-reach-learners).
She Supervises MA and PhD dissertations and coordinates pre-service teacher training and the Erasmus Mundus MA “Crosways in Cultural Narratives” internships.
