John Ross is a lecturer in English at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. He obtained his BA (Honours) in English and History at the Manchester Metropolitan University in 1977. In 1979 he obtained a PGCE (Post Graducate Certificate in Education) in Teaching English Language and Literature at the University of Leeds. In 1987 he obtained a R.S.A. (Royal Society of Arts) Diploma in TEFLA (Teaching English as a Foreign Language at Waltham Forest College, London. He has taught English at a secondary school level in London, and in private language schools in Barcelona, Spain and Salonika, Greece. He also taught Business English at Fiat Iveco in Turin, Italy and at the Regent Business School Oxford Street, London. From 1987 to 1997 he was a Teacher of English, Teacher Trainer and Senior Teacher at the British Council in Porto (1987-1990), Bilbao, Spain (1990-1994) and Coimbra (1994-1997). From 1997 until the present he has been a lecturer at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto.
